I'm not criticizing the women here. I'm just suspicious of the police reports and the prosecutors' interpretation of events, which don't seem consistent with the women's behavior afterwards.

Several sources say that Miss W, the younger woman, after the incident which the police describe as 'rape', had breakfast with Assange, took him to the station, bought his ticket back to the conference, etc. A couple of sources say that at breakfast she joked with him saying she hoped he hadn't got her pregnant.

According to the Press Association, here is the chronology with Miss A [Anna Ardin, the organizer of the conference]

[Gemma Lindfield, for the Swedish authorities] said the first complainant, Miss A, said she was victim of "unlawful coercion" on the night of August 14 in Stockholm.
The court heard Assange is accused of using his body weight to hold her down in a sexual manner.
The second charge alleged Assange "sexually molested" Miss A by having sex with her without a condom when it was her "express wish" one should be used.
The third charge claimed Assange "deliberately molested" Miss A on August 18 "in a way designed to violate her sexual integrity".

Does anyone have light on the circumstances of the Aug 18 'molestation'? Miss W hosting a party for him after the 'unlawful coercion' of Aug 14 is understandable: part of the conference events. But how were they together again on Aug 18 in a situation where something serious could occur?

Certainly when the woman is living with the man, dependent on him for practical cooperation, or even in a power imbalance such as employer/employee -- and/or she had a long acquaintance with him and established trust -- she can go through normal motions in shock, denial, or prudence. But that was not the case with Miss W. He depended on her for his expenses and transportation etc (not wanting to use his own credit card), and she was just a visitor to the conference, not an employee.

seems like any time there's a woman in one of these stories, somebody's gonna try to make her out to be a victim.....

Anyone questioned by the police in a politically fraught situation is likely to have their story twisted to favor some powerful political interest (whether it's US pressure or just an ambitious prosecutor).
