Nature of Evidence: point of tangency

Officials said the Jefferson County geometry teacher was apparently teaching students about parallel lines and angles and used the example of where to stand and aim if shooting Obama.
"He was talking about angles and said, 'If you're in this building, you would need to take this angle to shoot the president,' " said Joseph Brown, a senior in the geometry class, the newspaper reports.

a student in Harrison’s class said the incident has been “blown out of proportion.”
“We were going over a test and getting reviewed for our finals and were going over tangency,” sophomore Malia Drummond said. “A student walked in and said, ‘Well, if you shoot the president…’ and the teacher picked up on it and said, ‘OK, if you shoot off his ear, that is a point of tangency.’”
Just from these two sources, I'd put the girl's story more credible, for reasons I hope are obvious.

Now here's confirmation of a sort:
This writer is having a fit but uses the 'point of tangency' claim rather than the 'stand and aim' claim, so she is 'hostile witness' for the 'stand and aim' claim not standing up.

My guess: The boy was trolling, trying to get the teacher off the dull subject of math and into politics. The teacher refused to bite.
