People have been protesting the IRS for decades. 'Tea Party' is a recent movement protesting the Stimulus bills and deficit spending.

Labeling a criminal as a 'Tea Partiest' or worse a 'Tea Bagger' on no real evidence is as bad as labeling some random criminal a 'Muslim terrorist' or whatever -- when he may not even BE a Muslim. It suggests that anyone who throws a bomb must be a Muslim -- that all Muslims throw bombs -- or all Tea Party people do violence.

A Google search for [ IRS "Tea Party" -Austin -plane ] doesn't find much, so apparently the IRS has not been a big issue for Tea Party people.

Maybe Stack was just a D&D player.

Austin plane statement, from http://unixronin.livejournal.com/724924.html#cutid1

Search terms "Tea Party", "tea", etc not found. Nor 'deficit'. Nor 'stimulus'. Nor 'Obama'. Nor 'constitution'. Nor 'founders'.

ETA: Wordle.net/create generates a 'Wordle cloud' showing which words occur most frequently in a text. It would be interesting compare a Wordle cloud from Stack's statement with one from a Tea Party statement. I think there would be hardly any overlap. The key words (above) of the Tea Party issues don't occur at all in Stack's statement.

One clue to Stack's ideology:
In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy.

I haven't heard of the Tea Party people being anti-church. They're more often accused of being too religious.

The final lines of his suicide statement:

The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.

By now I'd have expected a lot to come out about his actual background and opinions. He was doubtless a loner, an introvert, read books, played D&D....
